Work is continuing apace. Just as one sweater has finished blocking, another seems ready for soaking and pinning. The other day, as I scrabbled over damp knitting with a tape measure trying not to put my knee in a pin, I decided I really do need some blocking wires. This is not a recent realisation. I have this conversation with myself every time I block things. The problem is I forget and then usually when I remember, I’ve spent my money. However, I had a lovely email that means I’ll have a little extra money soon.
As you know, I knit swatches for a studio who then sell them on to stores/other designers etc. Basically anyone who sells knitwear but doesn’t necessarily have their own designers. My lovely studio was at Indigo in Paris recently and today they emailed me to tell me I sold a design!.
It’s lovely when I get these emails. It makes me think that I am doing something right! I’m not about to buy myself an island retreat and clients usually take ages to send a payment but I will be buying myself some blocking wires. And maybe some yarn. And if he’s very good, I may take Boy out for a romantic dinner.
